What exactly is a birth chart?
A birth chart (also called a natal chart) is a snapshot of the sky taken at the instant of your birth, seen from the place where you were born. It records where each planet in the solar system was, in which zodiac sign, and in which astrological "house" each one fell.
Unlike the generic horoscope you read in magazines or apps (which groups 1 in every 12 people under the same text), your birth chart is practically unique: the Sun-Moon-Ascendant combination alone has 1,728 possible variants, and once you add the exact degrees, houses, and aspects between planets, it's virtually impossible for two people — except twins born nearly the same minute — to share the same chart.
What data you need to calculate it

- Place of birth — the exact latitude and longitude change how the houses are distributed

Do I need my exact birth time?
Not for the Sun, Moon, and other planets — those are calculated the same way with just your date. The exact time is only needed for the Ascendant and the houses, which are more sensitive to the minute of birth.
Where do I find my birth time if I don't know it?
Check your birth certificate (in many countries the time is printed on it) or ask your parents or family members who were present at the birth. If you can't find it, your chart can still be calculated in solar mode.
