With Aries ascendant you come across with direct energy: you take the first step without overthinking it. The ascendant —the sign rising over the horizon when you were born— describes how you show up on the outside, and in Aries that façade is frank, fast, and to the point.
How people see you when they meet you
You come across as full of initiative. You're often the one who breaks the ice, proposes the plan, or says out loud what everyone else is thinking. People read you as confident and driven, even if you're unsure inside. It can also read as impatience: waiting once you've decided is hard for you.
Your ruler: Mars
Every sign has a ruling planet, the one that gives it its underlying character. Aries's is Mars, tied to action, drive, and the capacity to stand up for yourself. That's why the Aries ascendant shows in the body: you walk fast, gesture, react before analyzing.
Aries ascendant and your sun sign
If your Sun is also fire, the mix is coherent: you're as direct inside as out. But if your Sun is water or earth —Cancer, Pisces, Capricorn— an interesting contrast appears: you look decisive and bold on the outside, while inside you're more cautious or sensitive than anyone suspects.

What does it mean to have Aries ascendant?
It means Aries was rising over the horizon when you were born, so you come across to the world as direct, energetic, and full of initiative, whatever your sun sign is.
Is being an Aries the same as having Aries ascendant?
No. Being an Aries refers to your sun sign, which comes from your date. The Aries ascendant comes from your time and place of birth and describes how you present yourself, not your essence.
